Notes from the house.

Short reads on how we work, what goes into the formula, and the making of the house in Pererenan.

On time

Life is too short for three-hour appointments.

The old salon runs like a queue. Nails, then brows, then lashes, one after the other, with waiting in between — and a whole afternoon gone. We asked why it had to be that way, and it does not.

In the house, treatments run in parallel. A pedicure happens in the lounge while your lashes are lifted. Two artists take one hand each on a Signature manicure, so an hour's work takes half. Ritual sets bundle the most-loved combinations, done by a team, in a fraction of the time — and for less than booking them apart.

It is not about rushing you. It is about giving the time back, so the ritual is the point and not the wait.

On the formula

Not all gel is formulated the same.

Most people choose gel by colour and by how long it lasts. We also care about what is inside it. Every layer of the House of Ritual gel system — base, builder, colour and top — is HEMA- and TPO-free and designed for low-heat curing.

HEMA is commonly associated with gel sensitivity. TPO is a curing ingredient the European Union has classified as toxic to reproduction — it may harm fertility or an unborn child — and banned from all cosmetics, gel polish included, from September 2025. We chose to formulate without both, while still delivering strong adhesion, three-to-four-week wear and a high-gloss finish.

HEMA-free does not mean allergy-free — gel still contains other acrylates — which is why clean application, no skin contact and correct curing are part of how every artist here is trained.

On the house

The making of the house.

We built House of Ritual quietly, room by room, on Jl. Sempol in Pererenan — a glass-fronted house with a nail bar downstairs, a pedicure lounge, a hair space, a red-light corner, Wear Rame Café by the door, and Wear Rame at home on the floor above, its third location.

Before we opened, we asked women what they wished a Bali salon offered and never does. The answers became the rules of the house: everything at once, a price that is the same at the end as at the start, somewhere quiet enough to exhale, and nothing in the formula you cannot pronounce.

The house opened on 14 September 2026. Follow along on Instagram, and come and see it for yourself.
